The Smyrna
Museum, in the heart of Smyrna, had it's grand opening on
April 25, 1999. Hundreds of political and community leaders,
invited guests and Smyrna area citizens were present for the
dedication, ribbon cutting ceremonies and open house.
The Museum
is located in a replica of the 1910 Smyrna Train Depot which
was demolished in 1959. Its collection includes thousands
of photographs, publications, artifacts, oral histories as
well as historical and genealogical research materials. The
materials are from both Smyrna and Cobb County and date to
1832. Research assistance is available.
The Museum is staffed 100 % of the time by volunteers
from the Smyrna Historical Society, the Smyrna Golden K Kiwanis
Club and many individuals who have an interest in preserving
this history of this city and contributing service to the
community.
Admission
is free and donations are accepted and encouraged.
